In recent years Kickstarter has become a popular way for new board games to hit the market.  For anyone that isn’t already aware, is a site where people can pitch a project and have people back it on the promise of certain perks once the project is finished.  (Believe it or not Heroes’ Beacon started out of a similar site called  Project creators often offer various levels you can back the project at for a variety of rewards.

Independent developers and established companies have both been using Kickstarter to get the needed funds to bring new board games to the market, while getting input from their target audience at the same time.  Many answer questions during the funding period, often giving production shots, previews of rules, and inside information to backers.  In most projects there is a “sweet spot” in the reward tiers where backing the project at that level will net you additional goodies as the overall amount of funds raised hits certain benchmarks.
We love to support new games and many offer a Retailer level on their project allowing us to get the game in as soon as it is released (usually with the Kickstarter bonuses) and support the project creator, while allowing our customers to shop local and get everything they would have if they had backed the Kickstarter themselves without having to worry about shipping, duty or exchange rate.  Plus you can pay for the pledge in store over time before it ships, making some of those more expensive games easier to manage.

In the past we have back games like Dark Souls, the Champions of Midgard Expansion,  Mega Man, and many others.  Recently we backed Thunderstone Quest from AEG and Rising Sun from CMoN.  It is not too late to contact us about getting in on a pledge for either of those games.

We are always looking for new and exciting games to back.  If you see something and want to back it, contact us about having us do the work for you!
