Board Games to Check Out

Gen Con has come and gone for another year and with it a whole slew of new board games were announced and previewed!  These are a few of the highlights.  Contact us about pre-orders to ensure you get a copy when they come out.


Fantasy Flight Games and Bethesda Softworks have teamed up to put out a Fallout board game!  This post nuclear adventure for 1 – 4 players will bring various scenarios inspired by the video games.  Survivors begin on the edge of an unexplored wasteland with just a single objective to guide them in the beginning.  Each player must explore the hidden map, fight ferocious enemies and build their skills as they attempt to complete quests and balance the feuding factions within the game.


Rising Sun

Coolminiornot brings the spiritual successor to Blood Rage in this game about honour, negotiation, and warfare in feudal Japan where ancient Gods have returned to rebuild the empire.  Tackle negotiations, alliances, and war.  Capture hostages and commit seppku.  The game features an honour track, in which you can rise and fall based on your behaviour.

This game was backed via kickstarter and we have a limited number of spots left for pre-orders that will receive some extra not available once the standard retail version hits the shelves.

Ex Libris


In a thriving Gnomish village you are a collector of rare and valuable books.  You have one week to impress the Mayor of the village with your personal collection and outshine your competition to become the new Grand Librarian in this worker placement game that takes uses both drafting and set collecting mechanics.




Set in the worlds of Dungeons & Dragons players get to pick their race (dwarf, elf, human, and more) and class (cleric, rogue, fighter, and wizard) in this cooperative Deck Building game.  Players will take their adventure from Forgotten Realms Baldur’s Gate, to Neverwinter, and Waterdeep and beyond in expansions.  Characters will gain new equipment, feats, and level up as they progress through various quests and build their own legend!

Mountains of Madness

This 3 – 5 player game based on the writings of H.P. Lovecraft is a fully cooperative game with a pinch of real-time gameplay.  In 1931 you scientific expedition discovers a new mountain range in the middle of the Antarctic polar circle.  Under these harsh conditions your survival will depend on your teams’ ability to communicate and coordinate your efforts to overcome each obstacle.

Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game is a Living Card Game; to play a Living Card Game, players create individual decks of cards from a base game with a fixed set of cards; they can then add supplemental card packs to this game world, with each pack also having a fixed set of cards, in order to vary their game experience.
